Hi Joel,

I have mine growing in large tubs, this way I can keep better control over them. I would definitely NOT plant them directly into the ground in your garden unless you want them spreading everywhere.

Try growing them in a tub as I do, and place the tub on a hard surface not soil (as the roots that come through the bottom of the tub will root in the soil). Also make sure that when they fruit next year, you pick up any fruits that fall off so that the seeds in them do not begin to germinate.

I have made a delicious batch of bramble/blackberry sauce this year, all ready to add to ice creams and desserts through winter. I hope the above suggestion helps. Good luck and I wish you success with your blackberries next year :-)

BLACKBERRY plants are called bramble.

Bramble will transplant easily as rootstock or cuttings.

However beware bramble is quick growing and aggressive ,spreading

both above and below ground and is very hard to police. Most gardeners

consider it a pest so be careful of upsetting neighbours if planting along

boundaries.

Not a good idea, very difficult to get successful cuttings if you don't have specialised equipment (Greenhouses and so on) and there's a danger that if you do succeed they may take over your garden in a way you didn't want. Best to wait until the wild plants start to fruit and just take your pick. No hassle!

Raspberries come the two with thorns or without. whilst looking by way of catalogs, the thornless ones are patently labelled. If not, meaning they have thorns. i'm uncertain approximately thornless blackberries.
