please help!! fruit fly infestation?

i have a fruit fly infestation and i was wondering what i can do to get rid of them? are there home made traps that work?

you must have a microwave, clear pastic bags, a banana [or hunk of fruit],and rubber bands. crush the banana [or skin] and put it in the clear plastic bag. lay it out on the kitchen counter -- you will see it fill up with fruit flies -- grab the bag, and wrap a rubber band around the opening -- gently squeeze out the air, so the bag is flat--- put it in the microwave, and turn it on until the bag inflates -- now, remove the bag [the flies will be cooked] and remove the rubber band -- set it on the counter and repeat, until all the flies are dead :) works great! :)

Oh, that is disgusting. Well, you know how to prevent that, right? Grab a plastic garbage bag (or, in a pinch, a pillow case), and put it over what ever the hot spot is. Shut up the bag, then take it outside, and let the fruit flies shoot away, then shake out the bag/pillowcase. Toss the garbage (compost?) and clean up whatever it was in. Go back and tackle the next hotspot. Keep repeating until the room is cleared of clutter. They may have laid eggs, so the next step is to wash your sheets, wash any clothes that were on the floor, and vacuum both the bed and the carpet. If you can sprinkle some baking soda on the carpet first, and let it sit for 10 minutes, you'll kill more bugs that are hiding. Good luck! You can do it! (And don't eat in your room! Take it outside if you need "privacy" to snack.)

Fill a cup with apple juice or cider. Add a few drops of dish soap. They are attracted to the juice, and the soap kills them.
