Do people have garage sales in the fall?

Question

This might sound like a stupid question, but I am moving in a few months and need to get rid of a lot of varoius stuff. I live in the Pacific Northwest and the weather here has been sunny and in the 60s during the day. I have never had a garage sale in the fall. Garage sales are a bit of a commitment and take energy and a little money, so before I start advertising, I want to know if anyone has experience going to garage sales in the fall or has had one themselves. If I saw a garage sale in the fall, I would be as likely to look as in the spring..

Generally, though, I don't see why not. I've never come across a season for garage sales. The main thing I've learned is that the professionals want to get there early and buy lots, so we start at about 5:30am and finish by perhaps 2:00.

Well, I live on the East coast, but there have been lots of garage sales here recently, as many as 10 each weekend within a 5 mile radius. So, it seems like a good time to have one - each sale I have gone to has been packed!

i live along about the same north/south line as you and yes, 2 of my neighbors had garage sales last weekend. go ahead and do it. but advertise on craigslist for free and put up signs rather than putting an ad in the paper. nobody reads the paper for garage sales any more. not that i've ever been much of a garage saler, but that's what i've heard! :)

I am in SoCal and people have them all year long around here. Even when I lived in the midwest, the biggest garage sales were on autumn weekends. And they were the best because the people holding them would have apple cider!

There are people addicted to garage sales. They will come out in any weather.

I am sure if you advertize for your garage sale and you actually have thing to sell that are worth buying people will show up. GOOD LUCK!!!

people have garage sales all year round because every season people are getting rid of last-season items. spring is sold in the fall. fall is sold in the spring. winter is sold in the summer and summer is sold in the winter. it's a pattern. stores do it too.

Sure they do. Most places have flea markets and yard sales until the snow flies.

advertize in your paper,and people will come. yardsales attract an almost occult like following, lol. for some people, like me, they are a hobby. as long as it's been in the 60s and the weather is nice. you should have one.

yea its best to make garage signs a week before you actually do it so more people will show up

we have, but you should check with your city to make sure it's okay. we live in Michigan and when we lived in the Detroit area, we weren't allowed. We now live over by Grand Rapids, and we are.

yes that think its the best time of all to do it them but do i in you front garden on a main road you get boyoboy lots of people......

just do it and see what it brings a little money is better than no money
