I am only 17 and I dont have a job. My room is in the basement and I caught about 2 mice already and seen 3 more in the storage room. (Btw my room is clean and tidy
)Yet my parents are doing nothing about it. They won t buy traps or call a professional. We moved into this house 2 years ago and since the first night I ve been hearing mice in the walls and now they re starting to make appearances. The house has many holes in the walls, from both outside and inside. The holes were there when we moved in and my parents have made no move to seal them, hence the mice. What can i do to get rid of them or make my parents take this seriously. Since they(my parents) don t go to the basement often they see no need to rush to fix the mouse problem.

A few cans of liquid foam will seal some holes. Next walk the rice levies. Get 2 or 3 cobra. Snakes. In 2 weeks a home is mouse free. The Cobra will leave on there own. You then go with a Python in the house. They are human friendly for most.

Keep a snake as a pet. They are more effective than cats.

I had 6 cats at one point, and still had mice in the house, often brought in by the cats.

I suggest you are a bit sneaky and make humane live traps (see youtube). When you have caught several - transport them to more obvious places like the biscuit tin or cereal boxes, or bedroom drawers in their room. I think they will only do something when it affects them directly.

I've seldom seen a house without mice. In fact I buy mouse bait and put it out for the mice , then go to find out they have eaten through the box of mouse bait and there it none left. Best bet buy a cat or a terrier.

It's fairly cheap to buy glue traps and place them around out of sight, under appliances and furniure, etc. Perhaps when you hand your parents two or three mice on a couple of cards, they will get the message.

what do you mean "only 17"? Kids get jobs at 13 babysitting, pulling weeds, dog walking, etc. You may need to work for donations until you can afford a state occupational license under your parents name. But get off your duff and help out.

Pail of water, piece of string/twine, empty plastic bottle, peanut butter. Google mouse traps using a bucket of water. Works quite well.

call the exterminator and let him bill them...thats pretty selfish just because they arent bothered thrn they see no need to fix it...or catch some mice and throw them in your parents room. they will automatically do something about it then :)

buy some sonic rodent repellers. you just plug them into the wall and they emit a piercing sound only small rodents can hear and they leave the area. I've had 2 in my house for years and haven't heard a mouse since. they're good for repelling insects too. I put one in every room in my house and 2 in the basement. a week later there was an Orkin truck on the street for my neighbor. Guess all my vermin went to their house. I was LOL for days!!

Would your parents be more inclined to act if they knew that mice could actually draw snakes into the House?

We live on a wooded acre and have had two mice. The cats quickly dispatched the first one. The second one, a baby field mouse, we caught and put outside away from the house.
