Why Are Bottom-Freezer Refrigerators So Much More Expensive?

Question

All else being equal, why are bottom-freezer refrigerators so much more expensive than top-freezer models? Aren't they more or less the same components in a different arrangement?

It's all about the design and assembly, I put out more for a bottom freezer because I talked to several repairmen that told me they don't have to work on bottom freezer units near as much.
