Sunbeam is a good brand for small electrics like that. But, I would look on overstock or amazon to get specific reviews for Sunbeam electric blankets.

get a small regular screwdrive and carefully examine this pinch device, a lot of times these actually open and release the exact opposite way you think they should. Study the pinch device closely and then use the little screwdriver to get it to release.
