in what context is it being used? I have always heard digs being used as a reference to your home, apartment, flat, whatever... it is my generations new slang... maybe they are trying to appeal to a younger audience.

"Digs" is slang, meaning "a place you live". (Ex: "My new digs.") I can only assume it came from the "digging" and pouring of a foundation that is necessary to build a house. I'd like to know where the slang term came from, but that's what that word means. :)
