First pull the plug on the toaster so it doesn't keep making fire.

If you have a 1 pound box of baking soda easily at hand (as every home should have) dump the soda all over the flames.

If you do not have soda, grab a bath towel, soak it thoroughly in water and spread it over the flames. The towel will likely smother the flames but don't wait to find out.

Grab a second bath towel, soak it thoroughly in water, and lay it out over the toaster.

NOTE: This advice is with respect to a toaster fire that does not include cooking oil or grease.

Look around the kitchen and ensure that the fire has not spread to any other surface. Be sure the undersides of cupboards near the toaster fire are not smoldering.

Unplug the toaster! You might need a hot pad, but you can use the fire blanket for that and then use it to smother the fire.

DO NOT use water when attempting to put out a fire with electricity involved.

if it's a kind of small fire, than just unplug it and pour some water over the flames. if it's a big fire though, use the fire blanket. (he will be even more pissed if you burn down the house!)

$40 for a blanket against maybe $200,000 for a house, not much choice is there?

Maybe you're too young to be left alone at home!

If it did happen, and you poured water on it, you would probably electrocute yourself.

would you rather have a da who's pissed? or keep the fire from spreading, and catching everything else on fire?! there's a reason they made fire blankets!

the fire blanket was made and bought to put out fires... so i think this is a reasonable situation to use it on..
